FIRST SIGHT
About Melvyn Kahan
Should they be given the opportunity and the necessary materials, most if not all infants enjoy 'artistic pursuits'.
They make pictures with which parents fondly adorn their walls and refrigerators. These parents do not label or define their children as 'artists' simply because they have fun drawing and painting. This enjoyment seems to be innate in children, but they often drop the activity as they develop many and varied other interests.
As an ageing retiree, I too enjoy making images for the fun (and challenge) of it. Perhaps it is a form of regression to a second childhood. However, I would not regard or define myself as an 'artist' and I have not been formally trained as such.
Despite the fact that retirement is a full-time occupation, I now find that I do have some time for my hobby. Though I am not very prolific in my activity, somehow I have run out of domestic wall space. I paint for my own enjoyment, but few see or notice my images and I am curious to know if others could like the look of what I have produced.
My aim in dipping my toes in setting up this website is to share and show my work to anyone who, hopefully, might enjoy seeing some of it. I am less likely to run out of virtual wall space here.
